COMSATS Community Development Unit (CCDU)
Overview
COMSATS Community Development Unit (CCDU) is an integral part of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Abbottabad Campus. CCDU is engaged in the provision of quality consultancy services to different organizations in the specialized fields of Management, Organizational Development, Finance, re-structuring, Information Technology, software-development, assistance in the Planning and Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation of organizational activities, and, importantly, in-house Capacity Building through the provision of different but specifically tailored training workshops.
CCDU is dedicated to improve organizations, and the people in them, using theory and practice of positive and harmonious, structural and behavioral change, through a process of teaching people how to solve their problems, take advantage of opportunities, and learn how to do better, improve and become more efficient and professional.
CCDU is also coordinating its activities with other like mind organizations and institutions in order to facilitate the exchange of information and experience within the areas of its activities. Social and economic life of the people will improve through broad accomplishment of programs and projects in different targeted sectors and organization (CCDU) will emerge as a useful partner in this urban area of the country.
Back Ground
The Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) is an intergovernmental and international organization, aiming at sustainable socio-economic uplift of the developing countries through useful applications of science and technology. Representatives from 36 developing countries met on 4-5th Oct 1994 in Islamabad and agreed to establish "The Commission", a high forum represented by heads of governments. Currently COMSATS has 21 countries as its members located in the three continents of the globe (Asia, Africa and Latin America). Realizing that working collaborations are an essential ingredient for accomplishing socio-economic development of the third world, COMSATS strives to cultivate linkages with prominent players at the international, regional and national level in order to integrate the development efforts. COMSATS has been working closely with agencies/organizations like TWAS/TWNSO, ICIMOD, IDRC, UNIDO, IAEA, COMSTECH, UNESCO, ISESCO, Lead Pakistan and various academic institutions in the member countries.
