Chemistry department won Rs. 100, 000 in DICE competition held at NUST Islamabad

DICE is the oldest, largest innovation platform of Pakistan and COMSATS IIT is part of it. This event is conducted every year since 2007. This year, DICE 2016 Mega Innovation & Entrepreneurship Event was organized by NUST, Islamabad from 21-22 December, 2016. More than 300 projects were competing with nearly 650 participants from all over Pakistan including Academia and Industry. Four categories of this event were as follows.

  • Group A: Engineering & Technology, Computer Sciences and Information Technology
  • Group B: Physical Sciences and Agricultural Sciences
  • Group C: Arts & Humanities, Business and Social Sciences
  • Group D: Biological Sciences, Medical Sciences and Veterinary Sciences

Few teams from COMSATS IIT also participated in this event. The team of Dr. Ahson Jabbar Shaikh including his MS student Ms. Maria Batool from Department of Chemistry, COMSATS IIT, Abbottabad participated with their project titled “Enhancing the efficiency of infrared solar cells using metallic nanorods" in the category B. Their project and poster presentation was evaluated by a panel of judges and their team won first prize in category B. Chairman HEC Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed awarded the Rs. 100, 000 cheque, certificate and Shield to Dr. Ahson J. Shaikh.
