Seven researchers from ES department completed a one week field excursion to Hunza, and Skardu under CRGP project run by Dr. Adnan Ahmad Tahir.
Total four faculty members Dr Usman, Dr Nazeer, Dr Arshad Abbassi and, Dr Adnan Ahmad Tahir and 3 MS research students of CIIT Abbottabad were part of this visit.
Mainly they condcted sampling on Batura and Passu Glacier (upto 3000 m ASL) to observe the glacier snout melting and flow.
They reached upto 4800m ASL at Khunjerab Top where they collected soil and plant samples.
Another mentionable work conducted was soil sampling (7 Samples) by Dr Usman and plant collection by Dr Nazeer and Dr Arshad Mehmood Abbassi (>20 samples).
It was a good experience to conduct field work in high-altitude regions on their own with colleagues from different backgrounds. We hope that the team will continue this work with more colleagues joining them and with more enthusiasm in future.
